As a trauma therapist I have worked with countless clients to help them overcome egregious acts of violence that have been unwillingly thrust upon them. Helping these individuals regain their sense of Self, reclaim their power, their voice, their own embodiment is an act of courage and strong will. The work is deep, intimate, and “earth-shattering-ly” HARD! That intimate space to do such arduous work, to make private and carefully thought out decisions such as ending a pregnancy, is protected and supported with wisdom and integrity and above all, compassion. If certain ignorant individuals within the government wish to tear that privacy and personal decision down, they need to know just how strong these women are.

These ballots being cast and political decisions being made are out of fear, ignorance and the illusion of control. And the women who have been through this, or who are going to have to face this unfortunate event in their lives, are wiser, more resilient, more conscientious, and are armored with fierce compassion! Not one vote or any one individual can ever take that backbone away from them.

This whole thing is heartbreaking. And quite honestly I have to pinch myself into believing this is our actual reality in the year 2022. But, I am holding faith that right action can still be done here. And in the small chance it is not, we will keep tirelessly fighting for what is right and what is compassionate in this world. And I will keep helping people in the law abiding container of confidentiality!

Thank you for these words. They are powerful!
